Matthew Carpenter joins Corendon Airlines from YouTravel

Corendon Airlines has appointed Matthew Carpenter as UK country manager, with oversight of sales and trade relations.

Carpenter joins Corendon Airlines after nine years at Youtravel.com, the bed bank which is currently in limbo following the collapse of its German parent company FTI Touristik.

Christian Hein, who was appointed Corendon’s head of sales and marketing in June, said: “Matthew is a great addition to our team, as we increase our focus on the UK market. Our goal is to expand our partnerships with tour operators and travel agencies. We’ve already taken the first steps and will continue to develop these efforts in the coming period.”

Corendon said it carried two millions passengers in the first eight months of 2024, including 300,000 from the UK, with projections for that figure to increase by 10% in 2025.

Hein added: “During the 2025 peak summer season, we will operate more than 500 weekly flights with over two million seats, serving Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle, as well as 18 airports in Germany, four in Austria and two in Switzerland.”

“We are shifting capacity to the UK market to meet strong demand.  Our best performing UK airports this year have been Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham, and total load factor for the UK reached 89% for the first nine months of the year.”
