Virgin Atlantic has announced a partnership with fuel management software firm i6 to help the airline to better control its fuel costs.
A digital refuelling process allows Virgin Atlantic’s pilots to log exact refuel amounts for every flight anywhere in the world.
This provides an accurate and real-time data source that is fed into i6’s new commercial fuel management software platform called Synthesis6.
The platform can generate detailed insights on fuel spending, such as costs per route, allowing the airline to streamline financial planning, tendering and invoicing.
Eve Messenger, fuel manager at Virgin Atlantic, said: “Our partnership has allowed us to improve our fuel data availability and accuracy.
“Alongside considerable time savings, Synthesis6 will allow us to control global fuel costs at a granular level.”
Steve Uhrmacher, chief executive at i6 Group, added: “As fuel demand and costs increase, airlines will be able to make much better decisions around their fuel spend with the most accurate and advanced platform available.
“Synthesis6 has been tailored to meet global market requirements of today along with the future energy transition.”
i6 technology has been introduced at more than 150 airports, including Heathrow and Amsterdam.
