Azamara Cruises has held a ceremony in Barcelona to commemorate the first meeting of three of its sister ships: Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest and Azamara Onward.
The destination immersion specialist previously offered the trade the chance to be one of 10 UK and Ireland agents invited to a VIP trip to Barcelona to be at the meeting ceremony.
A total of 50 agents from the UK, DACH and EMEA regions attended an AzAmazing Evening at Finca Mas Solers, a 19th-century Renaissance-style mansion outside Barcelona.
There were live performances of Spanish guitar and Catalan rumba as well as a traditional Catalonian human tower.
There was also a panel talk with chief executive Dondra Ritzenthaler and other senior executives who spoke about the line’s return to Alaska in 2026, new pre and post-land programmes and 2027 deployment, and commitments to future growth.
Ritzenthaler recently spoke at the Clia Conference in Southampton about the line’s commitment to the UK market.
The four-ship fleet will sail the summer season in Europe, before Quest goes to Iceland to begin its Canada and New England programme from July 21.
Azamara Cruises UK & EMEA managing director David Duff said: “We had a fantastic Sister’s Meet celebration in Barcelona, showcasing what we do best at Azamara Cruises – from immersing ourselves in the Catalonian culture at the AzAmazing Evening, to seeing Barcelona come alive in the evening with an overnight stay and Extended Destination Day in port.
“There was a fantastic buzz around, with guests excited to come together to be part of the occasion, and those on Journey looking forward to seeing Dondra and senior members of Azamara Cruises at the panel talk – which was also a huge success.”
He added: “We were also delighted to have 50 agents attend the event from the UK, EMEA and DACH regions, demonstrating our continued commitment to rewarding and supporting the trade community in key international markets.”
