Holland America Line will star in an eight-part TV series on Channel 4 this summer.
Each hour-long episode will be in the style of a fly-on-the-wall documentary and reveal behind-the-scenes lives of passengers and crew on board, as well as insight into shore excursions and destinations.
The line will also launch an exclusive booking incentive to win a cruise coincide with the series, with more details to be announced at a later date.
The working title of the show is Secrets of Super Cruises and filming has been taking place on three sailings by Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam in the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, South America, Canary Islands and North Africa, including the line’s first sailing from Dover in 10 years.
Speaking in a Travel Weekly webcast at the annual Clia Conference in Southampton, sales and marketing director Karen Farndell said: “We’ve never had anything like this before and it’s going to be exciting to have a whole show dedicated to Holland America Line.
She said she hoped the increased awareness of the brand would “hopefully translate into bookings”, adding: “The TV show is going to be a really nice visual tool for agents to use because clients will see it on primetime slot on Channel Four across the summer.
“Agents will be able to enhance their own knowledge as well. Some of them have already been on board, but seeing the working operation of the ship is quite different.”
