Sun Princess will feature the first Rollglider ride on a ship as part of the vessel’s new Park19 family activity zone.
The aerial roller coaster zip line is one of nine activities in the zone, which will be on the top decks of the Sphere Class vessel that launches in February 2024.
Called Sea Breeze, the ride enables seated passengers to be harnessed to an overhead track and reach speeds of up to 11mph during the 60- to 90-second experience.
Other features on Park19 – located on decks 19, 20 and 21 – are a climbing structure called Coastal Climb and The Lookout, an open-air observation deck at the highest point available to passengers.
The Net features cargo nets to clamber over, and Infinite Horizon, with leaning tilt walls cantilevered over the side of the ship to allow views down to deck nine and beyond.
There is an area of hammocks, a splash zone featuring a water sculpture, a jogging track and a games court offering options such as ping pong, shuffleboard, fitness classes and morning meditation.
Youth and teen centres on decks six and seven offer more activities for passengers aged from six months to 17. They are Firefly Park, for those up to seven years old; Neon Grove for tweens; and The Underground for teenagers.

Richard Parker, guest experience director, said: “We wanted to have activities for the kids that the parents or grandparents can enjoy with them, so everyone enjoys it together.”
Commenting on the new Rollglider, he said: “It is like a hang-gliding environment, and you can go as fast or as slow as you want.
“It’s a relaxing experience and you can embrace the views…and you get to hear the natural ambient sounds.
“It’s quite sedate. It is not a frenetic roller coaster.”
He said the activities reflect the design of the ship that “looks outwards” with plenty of vantage points offering views of the sea and ports of call, and natural light in the venues.
Sun Princess will be in Southampton for an overnight stay on September 22-23, 2024, and frontline agents will be invited onboard for the day.
It will be the first time a new Princess ship has visited the UK in more than 10 years.
“Whether it be Park19, or a lot of these areas for younger passengers, our past guests will love the evolution of these areas, and these fun new activities,” added Parker.
“New guests will love these new features onboard the ship.”
The first in a series of Sphere class vessels powered by liquified natural gas (LNG), the 4,300-passenger ship is being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
It will be based at Fort Lauderdale in Florida for Caribbean itineraries, following its maiden season of Mediterranean and Europe cruises in 2024.
