Online platform ExplorEarth has unveiled a range of 10 expedition packages that agents can book in partnership with TravelPack.
The specialist platform, which has a partnership with Clia, was set up to provide expert information on expedition and small-ship adventure cruises and connect interested customers to approved partners.
The packages were launched earlier this month and are fully bonded, combining flights, expedition cruises and land extensions.
They are accessible from the ExplorEarth website, covering a mix of destinations from polar to warm-water with operators including Ponant, Quark Expeditions, AE Expeditions, G Adventures, Antara Expeditions, Albatros Expeditions, AmaWaterways, Atlas Ocean Voyages, Metropolitan and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
Co-founder and chief executive Jos Dewing, who has prior roles at AE Expeditions, told Travel Weekly developing the packages further would be “a main focus” for 2026, with the aim to reach 25 packages by the end of the year.
“It’s very hard for agents to package and bond a big expedition trip that has a big land portion themselves,” he said.
“We are creating completely unique expedition packages and will really be focusing on that this year with TravelPack.”
The idea for the range came from the inaugural Clia Expedition Showcase in Svalbard when Dewing spoke to agents about “barriers to selling the sector”.
He said: “Most operators are selling cruise only in the UK. There may be some flights but an additional flight might still be needed, such as a charter to Longyearbyen. They are not selling packages.”
Dewing added: “We are catering for agents now on the site and it is another string to the bow as we’ve become an all-encompassing marketing platform for the expedition and small-ship industry.”
In line with this, he said developing partnerships with more operators would also be a priority this year, along with adding more consumer members to its site.
ExplorEarth is predominantly a business-to-consumer business, with a registration paywall for certain pieces of content from experts such as expedition team members, travel writers and scientists.
This is designed to encourage prospective travellers to sign up and fill out a profile, with the information then used to help operators and agents find customers with specific interests and destinations in mind.
Dewing said this has led to “a much more focused and targeted approach” where ExplorEarth can work together with specialist agents and operators to help sell specific departures, destinations and interests.
“It’s less trying to catch leads and send them on to partners to convert, and more successfully sending people directly to the partner,” he said.
Dewing also plans to have more hosted trips this year, with customers and potentially the trade, where experts that contribute content to the site take interested parties on an expedition themselves.
