Hays Travel agents in Whitley Bay and Middlesborough have raised hundreds of pounds for good causes in the past week with a coach trip and charity night.
The Whitley Bay branch organised a coach trip to raise money for a local charity which supports the homeless and low-income families.
The team from Hays Travel in the Park View shopping centre took almost 50 customers to Scarborough for the day on August 31, with the funds from ticket sales going to Heart NE.
Hays Travel staff attended the trip, entertaining the passengers en route with bingo and a raffle, which raised even more money for the charity which supports vulnerable people in the local community.
The charity coach trip raised £681 for Heart NE.
Elsewhere, the Hays Travel team from Hill Street in Middlesborough organised a charity event at their local pub in aid of a men’s mental health charity.
It was held at The Endeavour in Tollesby on Saturday.
The charity night raised £586 for Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity offering free-to-attend, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online.
More than 60 guests attended the fundraising event, which included food, bingo and a raffle, as well as scratch cards and a ‘Name the Hays Travel Teddy Bear’ game.
Gemma Learmount, branch manager of Hays Travel Middlesborough Hill Street, said: “The night was a real success with lots of laughs for such an amazing charity. We completed a sponsored walk for Andy’s Man Club last year and have seen the wonderful work they do in the community, so we wanted to continue our support into 2025.”
Hays Travel provides each branch with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.
In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated more than £177,000 to local charities.
