Four branches of Hays Travel have raised thousands of pounds for local charities by organising festive coach trips for clients.
The Hucknall branch in Nottinghamshire raised £2,020 for a cause which supports children living with mobility and communication difficulties.
They took more than 100 customers to Manchester Christmas markets, with the funds from ticket sales going to Footprints Conductive Education Centre.
Ticket sales for the charity coach trip went on sale in August and sold out within a week, with demand meaning two coaches were booked.
Gemma Hague, branch manager at Hays Travel Hucknall, said: “We split the coaches into ‘naughty and nice’ and served bucks fizz and a festive treat. We played bingo, sold raffle tickets and had a Christmas quiz. On the naughty bus there was even some festive karaoke.”
Elsewhere in Nottinghamshire, the branch in Mapperley, Nottingham, took more than 30 customers to Stratford-upon-Avon Christmas markets, with the funds from ticket sales going to Hayward House Hospice at City Hospital.
Hays colleagues entertained their passengers with a Christmas-themed quiz, Christmas jumper competition, raffle and festive music.
The charity coach trip raised £490 for Hayward House, a specialist palliative care unit in the grounds of the City Hospital.
Hays Travel’s Julie Rowley said: “We chose this charity to fundraise for because they do such vital work supporting those with cancer. All of us will be affected by cancer in some way at some time in our lives.”
Meanwhile, the Hays team in Cramlington, Northumberland, generated more than £1,750 for MHA, a charity which supports older people in the community.
They took more than 100 customers to Leeds Christmas market, entertaining their passengers en route with bingo, domino cards, a Christmas quiz, and a raffle.
Bridget Wood, travel consultant at Hays Travel Cramlington, said: “We chose this charity as it does vital work in the community and one of our regular customers works alongside them. What they do to help people is truly amazing.
“The trip itself was a massive success; raising so much money for the charity, as well as awareness of what they do and how important it is to the community. All the customers who came thoroughly enjoyed all the games en route to Leeds and a long day exploring the Christmas market and shops.”
Elsewhere, the team from Hays Travel at Hull Morrisons in Holderness Road, Hull, raised £650 for a local charity which supports people bereaved by suicide.
They took 46 customers to York, with the funds from ticket sales going to Mysterious Minds.
The agents entertained their passengers en route with bingo, a quiz and a raffle.
Naiomi Nicholson, of Hays Travel Hull Morrisons, said: “We were really happy with how the event went and every customer who came commented on how much fun they had and said that they would love to do it again.
“We really just wanted to give back what we could to families in need this Christmas.”
