Exodus Adventure Travels gains B Corp status

Exodus Adventure Travels is celebrating achieving B Corporation status in its 50th anniversary year.

The tour operator has become the latest travel company to gain B Corp status, which is awarded to brands deemed to have met high standards of social and environmental performance.

Rochelle Turner, Exodus Adventure Travels’ head of sustainability, said: “We take immense pride in becoming B Corp-certified, as it signals to our customers and other stakeholders that we are running our business in a way that is dedicated to creating positive environmental and social change and acting with and for greater purpose.”

She added: “It’s the perfect start to our 50th birthday celebrations this year.”

In the year-long certification process, the company had to review its operations and show it had made a positive impact in five key areas: environment, customers, workers, community and governance.

Activities highlighted by Exodus Adventure Travels included its monitoring, recording and publishing of carbon emissions for its offices and trips.

The company also pointed to its support of the Exodus Travels Foundation through investing in projects that help with regeneration and conservation in destinations it travels to.

Another key step was drawing up new policies for everyone in the business on sustainable and ethical procurement and ethical marketing practices.

Turner said: “We believe that travelling the world is a privilege that comes with deep responsibilities – responsibilities to care for the people that we meet and work with, the places that we visit and the long-term health of the planet that we all enjoy.”

Meanwhile, Exodus Adventure Travels has unveiled a new partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation as part of the operator’s commitment to climate and nature action.

Alongside its sister travel companies, Exodus Adventure Travels aims to donate at least £1 million over the next three years to support the conservation and restoration of 7,000 hectares of vital marine ecosystems.
