France removes all Covid entry rules

France has removed all Covid entry restrictions for visitors, regardless of their vaccination status.

From today (August 1), all arrivals in France can enter without needing to show proof of vaccination, a negative Covid test or fill in any Covid-related forms.

Prior to the rule change, fully jabbed arrivals were required to show proof they had been vaccinated, including having received a booster jab if more than nine months had passed since their second dose.

Unvaccinated travellers needed to show proof a negative PCR or antigen test, and all arrivals were required to present a sworn statement confirming they were not infected.

However, all of those rules have now been removed, making it easier for travellers to visit France.

In addition, France has dropped the requirement for people to wear face masks in health establishments, although they are still recommended.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has been updated to reflect the changes.

It states: “From August 1, 2022, all Covid travel restrictions for travellers to France have been lifted. This also applies to travel between metropolitan France and each of the French overseas territories.

“Face masks are no longer mandatory in health establishments, but remain strongly recommended.”
