Not Just Travel consultants and corporate team members are embarking on a “life-changing journey to Peru” to conquer the Inca Trail for charity.
The 20-plus team will hike at high altitudes and trek up to nine hours a day to try and raise £10,000 for The Pink Ribbon Foundation, which supports people suffering from or affected by breast cancer.
Dubbed The Breast Trek Ever, the 25-mile challenge will span four days during the trip, which takes place from September 29 to October 9, in collaboration with Not Just Travel trade partner G Adventures.
The group will reach heights of 4,200m through Andean landscapes and on the third night will wake at 2am to trek the final stretch to step through the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu.
The charity was chosen in honour of one of NJT’s consultants, Rachael Coyne, who has twice survived breast cancer while running her travel business with husband Colman.
Among those taking on the challenge is Laura Simpson, head of experience and operations at Not Just Travel, who will be joined by her daughter Ambar.
“The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has always been on my bucket list,” said Simpson, adding: “It’s going to be an amazing experience, especially sharing it with my daughter Ambar and the incredible NJT team.
“The cause is deeply personal as we’re doing this in memory of my mum, friends we’ve lost, and those still bravely fighting breast cancer.”
In preparation for the trek, Simpson squeezed in a training session with Not Just Travel brand ambassador and double Olympic champion, Daley Thompson CBE.
“The expedition is not just a physical challenge, but a testament to the power of teamwork and purpose. It was an honour to get tips from Daley – there’s no one better when it comes to strength and endurance training.”
Tom Buck, global purpose specialist at G Adventures, applauded the dedication of the NJT team, saying: “The time for training is over, and now the real adventure begins.
“It’s incredible to see this group come together for such a meaningful cause. Lives will be transformed, both through the trek and the support they’re offering to the Pink Ribbon Foundation.”
