Silver Travel Advisor recruits head of retail to drive growth

Award-winning agent Julie Crumpton is joining Silver Travel Advisor in the newly-created role of head of retail.

The appointment comes six months after the over-50s travel specialist introduced a booking service to expand the business from a reviews, information, and advice publisher.

Crumpton was last month recognised at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards as the Tipto Independent Agent of the Year.

She joins Silver Travel Advisor on September 5 with more than 30 years of travel industry experience, including two decades at Thomas Cook where she held management positions at various stores in the Midlands and Thomas Cook Plus concept stores.

She spent the last eight years as a business owner with Travel Counsellors, building up her own multi-million-pound business of predominantly long-haul and cruise bookings.

Silver Travel Advisor managing director Lisa McAuley said: “Since launching the booking service just over six months ago we’ve been really pleased with our performance and the sales we’ve achieved.

“There is a great opportunity in the over-50s market; our latest research showed that our silver travellers are planning to not only take more holidays this year but also to spend more on holidays, so now feels like the right time to maximise our growth potential.

“Julie brings a wealth of experience to the new role and will be instrumental in establishing a brand new team of advisors to support demand as we grow.”

Crumpton added: “I’m really excited to join the team at Silver Travel Advisor. They are leaders in travel for the over-50s and already have a loyal membership base, this coupled with ambitious growth plans provides a perfect opportunity for me to bring my skills and experience to the team.

“I can’t wait to get started and begin building a wider team of homeworkers to support more and more customers.”
