House of Commons speaker opens relocated Hays Travel branch

House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle officially opened a relocated Hays Travel branch in his own constituency.

He made an appearance as guest of honour a few days Hays Travel Chorley opened last week.

Branch manager Carrie Alger contacted the MP to invite him to open the newly relocated branch, which has a prime location on Market Walk, as he lives in the Lancashire town.

She said: “We were delighted when Sir Lindsay said he would come along to officially open our branch in its new home in the centre of Chorley.

“He was very friendly and welcoming – meeting and greeting customers, he even got behind the desk to serve customers and recommend cruises.

“I was very pleased that he just got stuck in – he definitely made a lasting impression and will always be welcome at Hays Travel Chorley, I’d happily offer him a job if he fancies a career change.”

Alger added: “Hays Travel went from strength to strength in Chorley since the group acquired the former Thomas Cook branch in 2019.

“I now lead a team of eight and together we have 75 years’ experience in travel. Thanks to the success of our branch, we needed to move to larger premises, which we found in Market Walk.

“We are so pleased to be in this prime location in the centre of Chorley. Having the Speaker of the House of Commons to cut the ribbon in our first week of trading seems very fitting.”
