Abta has unveiled easyJet’s chief operating officer, Matt Callaghan, as one of the speakers at the Travel Convention (October 6-8).
He will talk about transforming a firm’s customer experience by looking at the colleague experience – exploring the link between colleague culture and customer satisfaction, showing how operational design, technology and leadership can create “seamless experiences” from back office to beach.
In his role, he is responsible for all aspects of the customer experience and business operations as well as the development and implementation of the easyJet holidays’ sustainability strategy, ‘Holiday Better’.
As part of this, he has implemented a partnership with UN Tourism to help develop the first environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework for tourism businesses.
Before joining easyJet, Callaghan held several senior customer and operational roles at British Airways.
The 2025 Travel Convention will take place at the four-star Melia Calvia Beach Resort, with content focused on four pillars: Our world; Our industry; Your business; and Your network.
Attendees will stay at one of two hotels within the resort: Melia Calvia Beach and Melia South Beach.
The event will be held in partnership with easyJet holidays, with support from headline partners Global and Intrepid Travel. Travel Weekly will again be the trade media partner.
Intrepid is also offering an optional excursion on October 6, with a guided journey through Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The one-hour walk will be led by a local guide who will share insights into the region’s wildlife, natural beauty and heritage. Following the walk, delegates will visit a traditional rural finca for a wine tasting, and the chance to sample local produce and watch live demonstrations by Mallorcan artisans, including sheep wool spinning and embroidery.
