Viking will offer river cruises in India in late 2027 with a new-build 80-passenger vessel.
The Viking Brahmaputra is currently under construction and is being designed specifically for the Brahmaputra River.
The ship will have 40 outside staterooms and will offer a new 15-day itinerary called Wonders of India which will sail between Guwahati and Nimati Ghat in the northeastern state of Assam.
The trip will include an eight-day river voyage and a fully guided land programme with overnights in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, with options to go east or west.
There will be 13 excursions included with the opportunity to visit up to 10 Unesco World Heritage sites.
Viking chairman and chief executive Torstein Hagen: “With its rich heritage, deep cultural traditions and fascinating natural wonders, India is a vast and vibrant country that has captured the imagination of explorers for centuries.
“In recent years, our guests have particularly enjoyed visiting Indian ports on our ocean itineraries.
“We are now delighted to introduce a new way for curious travellers to explore the heart of this phenomenal country, in-depth and in Viking comfort.”
