Hays Travel branches in Sheffield, Blackburn and Fakenham have raised hundreds of pounds for local charities with a range of events in the community.
The Fakenham team raised more than £650 for FitzRoy – The Maltings, which offers services for adults with learning disability, autism, complex mental health support needs, and acquired brain injury.
The agents held a raffle and bake sale and took part in a sponsored treadmill walk and a 5K inflatable challenge.
The funds will go toward creating a new sensory garden at The Maltings.
Natasha Southerland, assistant manager at Hays Travel Fakenham, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who supported us, whether by donating a prize, joining in on the day, sponsoring a team member, purchasing raffle tickets and cakes, or simply spreading the word. It’s amazing to see what we can achieve together as a community.
“Also a huge thank you to everyone from Fitzroy who have been there every step of the way.”
In Blackburn, seven agents from the King William Street branch walked the distance from their shop to Liverpool airport to raise money for two local charities.
They set up a treadmill outside their store and took turns to walk and run (in fancy dress) until they completed the 33 miles.
So far they have raised £255 for Derian House Children’s Hospice and Darwen Food Larder.
Stephanie Rowley, branch manager, said: “We chose to fundraise for Derian House as it is a charity close to my heart due to the support they gave my friend when her daughter was receiving end-of-life care.
"It really is phenomenal the work they do for sick children and their families.
“We also chose the Darwen Food Larder as they help so many people who are struggling – the help the foodbank provides is a lifeline for many families.”
The fundraiser is still open and donations can be made via this link.
Over in Sheffield, a team from the Crystal Peaks branch organised a coach trip to raise £540 for PACT – Parents Association of Children with Tumours.
They took more than 20 customers on a day trip to see the Blackpool Illuminations.
Travel consultant David Miller said: “We chose to fundraise for PACT as it’s a charity close to our hearts. The goddaughter of one of our team members has been supported by PACT during their cancer recovery and a friend of the branch who books with us is a brand ambassador.”
They have organised another charity coach trip in aid of PACT on December 6, this time taking customers to the Manchester Christmas markets.
Each Hays Travel branch is provided with a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local area; £200 of this is to be used to fundraise for charities which support young people’s mental health, and the other £300 can be used for charities chosen by the branch.
In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated more than £177,000 to local charities.
