Delegates at the Holiday Lounge annual conference in Paphos this week held a beachfront ceremony to remember industry figure Diane Court, who died earlier this month.
She was appointed head of business development at JTA in 2014 and retired at the end of last year after turning 70, becoming an “official ambassador” for the brand.
Court had served the industry for five decades and was a well-known figure in the trade, representing a range of companies on the road in the Midlands and nationally, including Gold Medal and Virgin Holidays.
Paul Moss, Holiday Lounge managing director, said: “The last conference she attended before she retired was ours last November in Tenerife.
“She had a fantastic time with us last year; she was a bubbly character.
“She was a great friend to Holiday Lounge and built close, personal relationships – so we dedicated this conference to Di and wanted to do something fitting.”
The four-branch Leicestershire agency had 41 delegates at its conference, hosted by Constantinou Bros Hotels in Paphos.
The delegates remembered her with a balloon release on the beach in front of Athena Beach Hotel, with each delegate releasing a pink balloon, and there was one large balloon with her name on it.
During the ceremony, Moss spoke about her, as did Dave Green, JTA Travel Group business development director.
“What a credit to the industry she was – a fantastic person and we have fantastic memories of her,” said Moss.
“It was a fitting tribute to a wonderful lady.”
