Wendy Wu Tours has expanded its trade team with the hiring of Amy Sharp, a marketing executive from Baldwins Travel, which was wound up at a High Court hearing on July 9.
Her appointment as sales support executive comes as Wendy Wu Tours celebrates a 35% year-on-year increase in trade sales – its third consecutive year of double-digit growth.
The long-haul operator said the growth was “fuelled by surging demand for specialist touring and the unwavering loyalty of its agent partners”.
Sharp said: “Joining Wendy Wu Tours is a huge privilege – the company is synonymous with outstanding touring experiences and unmatched trade support.
“My background in retail means I understand the challenges agents face and the tools they need to succeed.
“I’m excited to work closely with our agent partners to help them inspire customers, secure bookings, and grow their sales with Wendy Wu Tours.”
Gary King, head of trade sales at Wendy Wu Tours, added: “Her experience with Baldwins Travel – one of the UK’s most respected agency groups, which sadly closed earlier this year – means she brings both exceptional skills and an insider’s understanding of the agent perspective.
“We’re proud to be keeping such a talented professional in the trade, and I know our partners will value her insight and support.”
He continued: “Our trade business has grown 35% year-on-year, marking the third year in a row of double-digit growth – an achievement we owe entirely to the dedication, trust, and passion of our agents.
“This year we’ve also seen sales from the homeworker sector double, now accounting for more than 15% of our total trade sales.
“As demand for specialist touring continues to rise, we’re expanding our team to ensure agents receive the very best from us – whether that’s sales support, expert training, or opportunities to experience our destinations first-hand. Amy’s appointment is another step in delivering on that promise.”
Sharp will be based in Wendy Wu Tours’ London office, working with the trade sales team to coordinate fam trips, manage agent events and respond to day-to-day partner needs.
She will be a key first point of contact for many agents, ensuring they have all the resources, advice and support they need to secure sales.
