Thomas Cook Airlines launches new Edinburgh-Antalya route

Thomas Cook Airlines has launched a new weekly flight from Edinburgh airport to Antalya, Turkey.

The first on the route took place on Saturday on the A321 aircraft, with 215 passengers on board.

Thomas Cook Airlines has increased its number of seats from Scotland to Turkey by 43% this year and has more than 140 weekly departures to Turkey from fourteen UK airports.

Tour operator Thomas Cook’s holiday bookings to Turkey are up 84% year-on-year.

Henry Sunley, commercial director at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “Turkey is a really popular destination for our customers and we are very pleased to add Edinburgh airport to our growing number of UK airports, meaning we can take even more people on holiday.”

Alfie Hainie Manager, Thomas Cook store manager at Edinburgh Hanover Street, added: “We love creating memorable holidays for our customers and it is fantastic that we can now send our customers in Edinburgh to their local airport to fly to one of our most popular destinations.

“Our Thomas Cook Holiday Report showed that 98 per cent of people in Scotland consider the flight to be an important or very important part of their overall holiday, so adding Edinburgh airport to our summer timetable is wonderful news.”

Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport said: “The Antalya route will be a great opportunity for people to visit Turkey and we look forward to its success.”

One-way economy fares on the Edinburgh to Antalya route start at £90.99.
