Ryanair is deploying three new Boeing 737 Max aircraft to its fleet at Luton airport.
The new generation aircraft will give 4% more passenger capacity per flight while cutting CO2 emissions by 16% and cutting noise by 40%.
The no-frills carrier will operate more than 140 flights a week across 27 routes from Luton this summer, including new services to Bezier, Bologna, Malta and Seville.
Ryanair chief executive Eddie Wilson said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce the addition of three ‘gamechanger’ aircraft to our fleet at London Luton airport.
“This significant investment forms part of a longer-term strategy between Ryanair and the airport’s management team to deliver sustainable growth.”
Airport chief commercial officer Jonathan Rayner added: “We are delighted to welcome the arrival of these three new fuel-efficient Ryanair aircraft.
“As well as our commitment to achieve net zero carbon for our own airport emissions by 2040, we are working closely with our airlines to reduce their emissions.”
