The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has issued travel alerts as Storm Oscar brings heavy rain and strong winds across the Atlantic.
Its update for Spain said: “Storm Oscar is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Canary Islands between Monday 5 and Thursday 8 June.
“There are weather warnings in place, please see the website of the Spanish Meteorological Agency for details.
“You should check with your tour operator or accommodation provider before you travel and follow the instructions of local authorities.”
A similar advisory for Portugal said the storm had been forecast to reach Madeira, Porto Santo and the Azores on Monday and Tuesday (June 5-6).
It urged travellers to check the website of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere for details.
