Danny Giles has revealed he has been made redundant from Crystal, one year after joining the luxury line as a regional sales manager for the north.
In a LinkedIn post, Giles said he had been told he was at “risk of redundancy” two weeks ago and his role placed under consultation.
He added: “Today, I learned that Crystal Cruises has decided my skills, knowledge and experience will not be carried forward into one of the new regional sales manager roles (covering the UK and Ireland) within the UK and Irish team.
“Throughout this process, I have maintained the highest professionalism and commitment. I’d like to thank all my trade partners across northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland for their continued support.”
He added he “would have liked the chance” to extend this work, but Crystal’s “commercial structure limited that possibility”.
Giles said he was “looking forward to the next chapter”.
This year, Crystal made three appointments to enhance its support for the trade and appointed Luke Smith as vice-president of UK and EMEA sales.
The luxury line also secured financing for two new vessels due to be delivered from 2028.
Crystal has been contacted for comment.
Giles has previously held roles at Ponant, Riviera Travel, Silversea and Hurtigruten.
