Lufthansa budget carrier Eurowings is expanding its network between Heathrow and Germany with a new route.
The airline is adding flights between the London hub and Berlin Brandenburg airport from next summer.
Up to 12 flights a week between Heathrow and the German capital are scheduled.
Eurowings already serves Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne-Bonn with direct flights from Heathrow.
The Lufthansa low cost subsidiary is expanding its fleet based in Berlin by two to nine aircraft as part of an expansion of services.
The carrier will serve a total of 43 destinations in 20 countries in its largest flight schedule from Berlin next summer.
Chief executive Jens Bischof said: “The measures adopted by the German government are helping us to stabilise our range of flights to European destinations and, in some cases, to expand it.
“This is particularly evident in Berlin. With our new connections, we are strengthening our presence in the capital.
"We are making a deliberate investment because we see the region’s potential and want to offer people in Berlin and Brandenburg an even more diverse European network.”
Burkhard Kieker, chief executive of visitBerlin, added: “With these new destinations, Eurowings is sending a strong signal for improved connectivity in the capital. We particularly welcome the increased number of flights from European cities such as London, Lisbon and Bilbao.”
Brandenburg replaced the former Tegel and Schonefeld airports serving Berlin in 2020.
