Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises have secured the rights to broadcast the 2026 Fifa World Cup across their ships.
All of the tournament’s 104 matches will be available to view on cabin televisions on Sport 24 special event channels.
Selected matches may be showcased on big screens or in the main theatre on certain ships.
HAL’s sister Carnival Corporation brand Seabourn will also be broadcasting the World Cup on its three ocean ships, as will Cunard.
The tournament is being hosted jointly by the US, Canada and Mexico and runs from June 11 to July 19 next year.
HAL guest experience and product development senior vice president Michael Smith said: “Soccer is the most popular sport across the globe. The Fifa World Cup is the world’s pre-eminent soccer tournament, and we realise how important it is for our guests to be able to watch it live on our ships.
“Guests can confidently book their cruise for next summer knowing that if their national or favourite team advances, they will be able to watch the match from the comfort of their stateroom.”
Kate Garden, commercial director at sports marketing agency IMG, added: “The Fifa World Cup 26 represents a truly global celebration of sport, and we are pleased to support Holland America Line in delivering an unforgettable viewing experience for fans on board.
“From private staterooms to open-air decks, guests will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of the tournament as we bring the spirit of the stadiums to sea next summer.”
Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “Whether guests are holidaying in the Mediterranean, the Norway fjords, or a little closer to home, fans can stay connected with their teams. This is all about combining unforgettable holidays with the shared experience of live sport – bringing people together on board while delivering the quality and comfort that guests expect from our brands.”
Lorna Warren, Princess Cruises’s hotel operations and guest experience vice-president, commented: “The Fifa World Cup is one of the most fan-driven global events, and our guests shouldn’t have to choose between exploring the world and watching the world’s best teams compete.
“By bringing live coverage to all 17 ships, we’re making sure fans can experience incredible destinations and cheer on every match whether they’re soaking up the sun in the Caribbean, taking in the Mediterranean coast, or sailing past glaciers in Alaska.”
