Holland America Line will deploy a third ship to South America and Antarctica for the 2027-28 season.
Nieuw Amsterdam will sail voyages between 14 and 41 days between October 2027 and March 2028, with a debut in South America.
It will replace Oosterdam which was due to sail the region between November 2027 and March 2028.
The line said the change would “bring added capacity and an enhanced onboard experience”, with more stateroom and suite options, with Nieuw Amsterdam having capacity for 2,106 passengers compared to 1,906.
The season will now begin with a 26-day Inca Coast: Mexico & Latin America Legendary Voyage from Vancouver, British Columbia to San Antonio (Santiago), Chile on October 7, which leads in from £2,899 for an inside cabin.
The itinerary includes overnights in Manta (Quito) in Ecuador and Callao (Lima) in Peru, with ports of call across California, Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica.
Nieuw Amsterdam will also operate multiple departures on the 14-15 day South America Pathways: Chilean Fjords & Glaciers itinerary from Buenos Aires in Argentina to San Antonio (Santiago) in Chile.
Zuiderdam will also sail in the region, offering 14 to 31-day sailings, with departures from Buenos Aires in Argentina, San Antonio (for Santiago) in Chile as well as Fort Lauderdale and Miami in Florida between November 2027 and March 2028.
Vice-president of revenue management Dan Rough said: "By adding more sailings, including a new Legendary itinerary, we’re giving guests more opportunities to experience South America and Antarctica.
"These voyages are designed to help travellers really connect with the region, from the energy of South America to the history of the Inca Coast and the awe of Antarctica.
“And that sense of place continues on board, with destination‑inspired dishes like Argentinian empanadas and enrichment such as Spanish or tango classes that bring the region to life throughout the journey."
