JetBlue has started serving Edinburgh from Boston in addition to resuming seasonal summer flights from the New England gateway to Gatwick.
The daily service to the Scottish capital complements existing seasonal transatlantic services from Boston to Amsterdam and Dublin in addition to year-round flights to Heathrow and Paris.
Return fares start £499 in the airline’s Core economy cabin and £1,999 in the premium Mint alternative in a limited time promotion.
The US low cost carrier is also serving Dublin and Edinburgh from New York JFK airport in the summer season, while Amsterdam, Heathrow, and Paris are served year-round.
Routes to Dublin and Edinburgh have been extended to the end of October, a month later than last year, based on their popularity, according to the airline.
New daily seasonal flights from Boston to Edinburgh and Madrid, operating until October 25, mark JetBlue’s latest step in expanding its European reach from the city’s Logan International airport.
JetBlue will offer a total of seven daily non-stop flights between Boston and Europe this summer.
Single aisle Airbus A321 aircraft will operate the Edinburgh and Madrid routes featuring the carrier’s Mint premium service with fully lie-flat private suites and restaurant-style small plates.
Passengers flying in the Core cabin receive snacks, soft drinks, coffee, tea, beer, wine, liquor and a meal. Wi-fi is available in both cabins.
Revenue, network and enterprise planning senior vice president Daniel Shurz said: "With our deep Boston roots, we’re excited to be putting more of Europe within reach for New England travellers with JetBlue’s low fares, great service, and the convenience of flying right from Logan.
“As we grow across the Atlantic from Boston, we’re also making it easier to connect to more of our network across the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean."
Meet Boston president and chief executive Martha Sheridan added: “We are delighted to celebrate JetBlue’s continued transatlantic growth with these new non-stop flights from Madrid and Edinburgh to Boston.
“These routes create new opportunities for cultural connection with Spanish and Scottish travellers, allowing us to showcase all that Boston has to offer - from our world-renowned history and cultural institutions to our dynamic culinary scene and thriving innovation economy.”
