Norwegian Cruise Line has opened bookings for the “longest and largest” ship in its fleet.
The 3,840-passenger Norwegian Aura is set to make its debut in Europe in May 2027 before transferring to its Miami homeport the following month.
The vessel will be 10% larger than predecessors Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna at almost 1,130 feet long and169,000 gross tons.
A new feature on the vessel is Ocean Heights, an open-air activities complex aimed at multi-generational families with more slides than any NCL ship, a ropes course and cabanas overlooking an onboard beach club.
Norwegian Aura’s pool decks will be the largest in the NCL fleet and more than 20% bigger than Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna with more seating capacity, an additional infinity hot tub, a larger LED entertainment screen and extra open lounge areas.
The vessel will run seven-day Caribbean itineraries next summer, visiting either the Great Stirrup Cay private island in the Bahamas, which recently received several enhancements, or Harvest Caye, NCL’s resort-style destination in Belize.
Prior to being based in Miami, Norwegian Aura will sail on a seven-day Med cruise from Trieste to Barcelona on May 21, 2027 with calls to Valletta, as well as Salerno and Civitavecchia, the port for Rome.
The ship will then embark on a 14-day transatlantic repositioning sailing.
Norwegian Aura will sail to eastern Caribbean destinations between June and October next year, including the Dominican Republic, US and British Virgin Islands as well as Great Stirrup Cay.
Winter 2027-28 will see Norwegian Aura run seven-day western Caribbean to destinations including Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico in addition to Harvest Caye off the Belizean coast.
The ship is currently being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and follows Norwegian Luna, which is due to make its debut as the 21st ship in the fleet in March.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings president and chief executive Harry Sommer said: "We are proud to introduce the newest, and largest, addition to our fleet, Norwegian Aura.
"Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends and travellers from around the world.
“With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way - offering the chance to exhale, connect and effortlessly escape into the moment.
“We look forward to this next milestone and can’t wait for guests to experience all that Norwegian Aura has to offer."
Details of the ship emerged as NCL unveiled a new brand identity inspired by its 1990s tagline, ‘It’s Different Out Here’.
The positioning “celebrates the disruptor mentality that has always set NCL apart and is now reimagined for travellers who value curated experiences, flexibility and meaningful time with their loved ones where they can be fully present”.
A multi-media advertising campaign will introduce a new look and feel for the brand focused on showing the cruiser’s point of view, not just the amenities on board, according to the company.
“Across channels, the creative reclaims a differentiated position in a category where everything has started to look the same,” NCL noted.
