Star Princess, Princess Cruises’ second Sphere Class ship, has completed sea trials ahead of entering service this autumn.
The 4,300-passenger sister ship to Sun Princess is set to make its debut on October 4 sailing in the Mediterranean from Barcelona.
The 177,800-ton Star Princess will feature 30 distinct dining and bar venues, “elevated entertainment” and activity offerings.
Accommodation includes Sanctuary Collection suites, mini-suites and more than 1,500 balcony cabins.
The four-day sea trials in the Adriatic saw the second ship in the fleet powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) complete a series of tests, including steering, navigation systems, and propulsion.
Captain Gennaro Arma, a 27-year veteran with Princess Cruises and leader of the Sphere-class new-build team, oversaw the sea trials.
He now heads a team of 1,600 crew members as the ship enters its final phase of outfitting.
Arma said: “We confidently led Star Princess through sea trials. As the proud leader of our newest vessel, I’m extremely impressed with the ship’s navigation capabilities and manoeuvrability.
“With the final countdown underway, my incredible teammates and I can’t wait to welcome guests aboard for unforgettable adventures this fall.”
