Skiers are having better holidays post-Brexit, according to Inghams, as the operator has had to take on more seasonal staff from Europe.
Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, operators have been unable to recruit as many British workers for ski seasons in Europe.
However, the chief executive of Inghams’ parent company, Hotelplan, said the change in regulations has actually helped boost “the customer proposition”.
Speaking on a Travel Weekly webcast in Grindelwald, Switzerland, he said: “We just had to shift from employing Brits to employing Europeans…so now our seasonal staff are 66% Europeans.
“I think that actually adds to the customer proposition here. If you are coming all the way from the UK, you’re going to have reps and people in the chalets helping you, like Italians, Greeks, Austrians and Swiss.
“It adds to the proposition and we’ve managed to recruit such a great team of people from across the continent, and also from the UK as well.”
He was speaking to Travel Weekly during a Hotelplan trip to Switzerland for UK travel agents and highlighted the importance of experiencing an Inghams holiday first-hand.
“It’s crucial, as it is important for me, for our partners to come and not just experience the mountains…but to experience the Inghams service.
“We hired hundreds of reps to work in all of our resorts and they really make the ski trips happen for people.
“They are at the end of the phone and you really see the value of booking with the tour operator when anything goes right or wrong or you need a tip because you’ve got someone you can call on, someone to deal with.”
