Escorted touring specialist Newmarket Holidays has launched a campaign to help agents showcase destinations where sterling has “skyrocketed” over the past 12 months.
Egypt tops the list, as the value of sterling has increased by 63% compared to the Egyptian pound, providing spending boost for British holidaymakers.
South Africa has seen the value of the pound jump by more than 24% compared to the rand, since May 2022, while in Kenya sterling is up by 16% on the Kenyan shilling.
In Norway, with sterling has risen by more than 17% against the Norwegian krone in the past 12 months, and in Iceland, the pound has is worth 8% more against the krona.
India and Canada have seen sterling’s value rising by about 5% over the past year.
Richard Forde, head of trade sales, said: “We want to help agents capitalise on consumers seeking great value for money, in terms of the price they pay but also knowing their money will be well spent whilst they are away.
“There are some brilliant destinations where the value of sterling has shot up over the past 12 months, so travellers can spend less to get more.”
The operator highlights tours such as On Safari in South Africa and Beautiful Fjords of Western Norway, explaining how excursions are now cheaper for British holidaymakers than a year ago.
