Tunisia has reverted to making PCR tests for international arrivals mandatory “due to the worrying Covid-19 spikes in many countries”.
The Tunisian Ministry of Public Health announced that the requirement will be in place from Wednesday, October 27, for all travellers arriving into the country and applicable to both vaccinated and non-vaccinated people.
A PCR test requirement had been in place previously, but was dropped from October 16.
Unvaccinated arrivals to the north African destination must also self-isolate for seven days in an accredited hotel, although under 18s traveling alone or accompanied by vaccinated parents are not subject to the compulsory confinement.
The Tunisian National Tourist Office UK & Ireland said the measures have been taken “in order to protect the local population and prevent the spread of the new variant”.
Tests must be carried out a maximum of 72 hours before boarding a flight to Tunisia, with QR code proof required. Children under 12 are exempt.
Arrivals must also complete, print, sign and present a Tunisian Travel Locator.
The Tunisian National Tourist Office UK & Ireland stressed that tourists travelling on organised package trips with tour operators are also subject to all the new measures.
The minimum time required between the final dose of vaccination and travel is 28 days for Johnson & Johnson, and 14 days for other approved vaccines.
