TravCorp Holdings has pledged to honour Classic Collection’s popular junior hotel inspector initiative by fulfilling trips already committed or confirmed by the operator
The parent company of Sovereign Luxury Travel, Citalia and American Holidays stepped in after OTA On the Beach announced the closure of Classic Collection on Wednesday.
The junior hotel inspector scheme was established last year to give travel agents the opportunity to take their children on fam trips to participating hotels.
The initiative saw agents’ children acting as “mini hotel inspectors” - rating swimming pools, menus, kids’ clubs, and other family-friendly facilities - while parents experienced properties through their children’s eyes.
With the wind down of the trade-facing operator, a number of upcoming trips have been cancelled, leaving agents and their families without the experience they were promised.
TravCorp group chief executive Andy Freeth, who led Classic Collection in the same role before leaving last year, said: “These trips captured imaginations across the trade - and more importantly, they gave children a sense of being part of their parents’ world.
"We don’t want those families to be let down. If you were due to travel on one of these fams, please email us directly - we’ll make sure you and your children still get the chance to enjoy the same experience.”
TravCorp Holdings is inviting affected agents to contact the business at tradesupport@specialistholidaysgroup.com.
The group is also calling on hotel partners originally committed to the programme and due to host the 2025 junior hotel inspector trips to get in touch, so the initiative can be brought back to life.
Freeth added: “This industry is built on people and relationships. By stepping in, we want to keep alive the fun and inspiration of the junior hotel inspector idea - and make sure those kids still get their moment to shine.”
