The Latin American Travel Association (LATA) is opening top membership to travel agents.
Agencies will be able to join the association as full members and take advantage of the full range of member benefits that are on offer to tour operators in the UK.
Member agents will automatically receive access to the Lata’s safety scheme, which was set up with the aim of improving safety standards in accommodation and transport across Latin America.
This includes complimentary access to a supply chain auditing system and tickets to events and masterclasses, covering all aspects of travel risk for customers and staff.
Members have access to media events and can also share news on Lata’s social channels as well as participate in a free seven-week online strategic sustainability training programme.
Agents will also receive invitations to attend Lata events including a Parliamentary reception in March and World Travel Market in November, as well as participate in fam trips and other training events.
Membership for travel agencies costs £995 a year, with a 10% discount for those joining before the end of the year.
Lata chair Martin Johnson said: “I am thrilled we can open the Lata membership to welcome travel agencies.
“This exciting milestone for Lata reflects how the travel selling landscape is continuously changing and developing.
“We know there is demand from those on the front line of travel selling for increased product awareness. There is also so much more we can offer to support businesses away from their product training.”
He added: “We can connect agencies with potential new partners, helping to grow business for all our members.
“With the next series of Celebrity Race Across the World hitting the BBC next week and putting Central America into the spotlight, this is the perfect time for us to improve our engagement with travel agencies, and helping them expand or develop their Latin American portfolio.”
