The Personal Travel Consultants in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel channelled the spirit of Oasis for a recent social media campaign, piggybacking on the band’s reunion tour.
Louise Rothwell, business development executive for the homeworking division, created an Oasis-themed post on the company’s Facebook page using some of the band’s song titles and lyrics to highlight the benefits of being a homeworker with the PTCs.
It included Don’t Look Back in Anger – echoing comments from homeworkers who wished they’d made the switch sooner – and Some Might Say, reflecting feedback from consultants who describe joining PTCs as the best decision they’ve ever made.
Half the World Away was a nod to exciting fam trips, while Supersonic highlighted the chance to become a top-selling agent.
Stop Crying Your Heart Out underlined the freedom and flexibility of being your own boss, while Cigarettes and Alcohol was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fun side of conferences and reward trips.
The campaign finished with a fun call to action to join the PTCs: “If you fancy being a Rock and Roll Star…”
Buoyed by the positive response, Rothwell then tapped into the fun side of flexible working, posting a shot of herself in her garden with a laptop, a can of pop, and wearing her Etihad cap.
The caption read: “Tell me you’re a homeworker without telling me you’re a homeworker” with hashtags such as #sunnydaysinthegarden and #workfromhomelife.
Her next post featured Alistair Rowland, chief executive of Blue Bay Travel and chairman of Abta, showing him as the Ibiza “Boss” with the message that homeworkers don’t really have a boss, because PTCs are their own boss.
She also tapped into the recent viral photo of a couple caught canoodling at the Coldplay concert, with a post referencing the band’s songs Trouble, Sparks and Adventure of a Lifetime.
The fresh and fun approach to recruitment is already prompting an increase in messages of interest, said Rothwell, adding: “I’d love to pretend there’s some complex strategy behind my ideas – but honestly, sometimes the simple idea you have in the shower that morning works the best.
“If Oasis lyrics, a can of pop in the garden, or even Alistair Rowland in Ibiza can make people stop scrolling long enough to think about changing their life, then I’d call that a win.”
