BA withdraws Southampton services

British Airways is withdrawing from Southampton airport next year despite adding services this summer.

The airline’s BA CityFlyer arm is suspending operations from the south coast airport for summer 2025.

The carrier added seasonal routes to Bergerac and Majorca four months ago in addition to Dublin, Faro and Malaga. Chambery and Bergerac are served in the winter.

BA competes with EasyJet on routes to Faro and Palma.

The change affects just four flights a week scheduled for next summer and BA offers hundreds of daily departures from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airport.

A BA spokesperson said: “We are suspending our summer 2025 operations from Southampton airport and contacting any affected customers, with options including rebooking on alternative flights with us or another airline or a full refund.”

A Southampton airport statement said: “Clearly it’s disappointing when any route is removed.

“However, we are in constant dialogue with airlines regarding the introduction of new services and that includes backfilling the routes withdrawn by British Airways.”
