Budget carrier easyJet will start operating City of Derry airport services from November 4, with new links to England and Scotland.
Flights to and from Edinburgh and Liverpool will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays throughout the year.
The Northern Irish city is famous for Ireland’s only completely intact historic walled city, the Derry Girls, a vibrant food scene and museums.

It is also where the Wild Atlantic Way meets the Causeway Coastal Route.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We are proud to be the largest airline in Northern Ireland and by expanding our network we are providing our customers in Northern Ireland even greater choice and UK connectivity.”

Brenda Morgan, head of business development at City of Derry Airport, added: “Services to Edinburgh and Liverpool have been in demand from both corporate and leisure travellers in the northwest and the flight schedule for Mondays and Fridays provides fantastic timings for business travel during the week and weekend breaks for the leisure market.”
The route to the second largest city in Northern Ireland will be the fifth new service the airline has added to its Liverpool network in the last 12 months, following flights being introduced to Malta, Enfida in Tunisia, Hurghada in Egypt and the Greek island of Corfu.
Paul Winfield, aviation director for LJLA, said: “With more than one million passengers flying between Liverpool to Derry over the past few years, we are confident that easyJet will be a successful partner on the route and look forward to reconnecting both cities.”
EasyJet now bases seven aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, flying about two million passengers a year, offering up to 340 flights each week to 27 destinations.
