Fully vaccinated visitors to Greece no longer have to take pre-departure tests before travelling to the country.
But on-arrival tests may still be required in which case those who test positive and their travelling companions will have to self-isolate for at least five days and “until your fever drops”.
The Greek government also “strongly recommends” visitors take a Covid test on both days two and four after arrival, regardless of whether they test negative on arrival.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed the changes in its travel advice for Greece which says: “From Monday 7 February 2022, travellers able to demonstrate full vaccination status will be exempt from the requirement to take any pre-departure test in order to enter Greece.”
Full vaccination status is defined as at least two doses except in the case of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson jab.
Greece will accept vaccination certificates for a period of 270 days following the administration of the last dose of the primary vaccination.
Travellers who are not fully vaccinated may still enter Greece, provided they can show a negative pre-departure test result.
This can be a PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival in Greece or a rapid antigen test from an authorised laboratory taken within 24 hours of arrival.
These requirements are compulsory for all travellers aged five and above.
All passengers must also complete a Passenger Locator Form. Failure may result in denial of boarding or a €500 fine.
