Azamara chief Dondra Ritzenthaler has been handed the 2026 Clia Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Lifetime Achievement Award for her “exceptional leadership” and “lasting contributions to the industry”.
Ritzenthaler has worked in the travel industry for 40 years in aviation and cruising, with roles at American Airlines and Celebrity Cruises, before becoming chief executive of Azamara in 2024.
She was recognised during a ceremony in Fort Lauderdale for “championing” travel agents, her “guest-centric innovation”, driving growth across the sector and contributing to original launch of the destination immersion specialist.
Ritzenthaler is well-known among the UK agent community for speaking about “the lion’s mentality”, urging trade partners to have “a positive attitude”, passion and resilience.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ritzenthaler said: “It is truly an honour to be recognised by Clia alongside such inspiring leaders in our industry.
“Travel has always been a deeply personal passion of mine - it has enriched not only my own life but also created lasting memories and meaningful connections for my family.
“That belief in the power of travel is what continues to inspire everything we do at Azamara, as well as our commitment to working closely with travel advisors, who are essential in bringing these experiences to life for our guests.
“This recognition reflects not only my journey, but the passion and dedication of our entire team as we create experiences that connect our guests more deeply to the world around them.”
The other recipient of the 2026 award was Travelsavers and Nest founder and chief exectuive A.J. Rick Mazza.
