Heathrow gears up for six extra summer routes

New flights from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi, Kos, Izmir, Bangalore, Barcelona and Paris-Orly have been confirmed ahead of the start of the summer schedule.

The six additional services start from March 31 as the London hub seeks to achieve record passenger numbers this year.

Virgin Atlantic opens a new route from Heathrow to the Indian tech hub of Bangalore from March 31.

Spanish budget carrier Vueling introduces flights to Barcelona and Paris-Orly from April 7 – the first route to the French capital’s second airport from Heathrow since 2017.

British Airways is adding Abu Dhabi flights from April 20, while Kos returns to the airline’s Heathrow network from May 18 for the first time since 2022, while Izmir returns on the same day after an absence since pre-pandemic 2019.

Heathrow chief commercial officer Ross Baker said: “We are delighted to see six new airline routes commencing at Heathrow this summer season.

“Last year, we served 79 million passengers, and we expect to serve more travellers with a record breaking 2024.

“This summer, passengers will have even more options to enjoy the sun. We are bringing back popular destinations such as Kos and Izmir, and the additional service to Bangalore and Abu Dhabi opens more opportunities for businesses across the UK. I am sure these new routes will prove popular this summer.”
