Industry leaders have been confirmed as speakers at the first sustainability day organised by the Spanish Tourist Office in the UK.
Subjects on the agenda include over-tourism, decarbonisation and sustainable transport.
Representatives from Abta, The Travel Foundation, Iberia, easyJet, Costa del Sol Tourism Board, Intrepid, Renfe, Paradores, the Aviation Environment Federation and Pura Aventura have been lined up for the event on April 26 in London.
They include Abta senior sustainability manager Susan Deer, Intrepid Travel UK general manager Hazel McGuire, easyJet holidays customer and operations director Matt Callaghan and easyJet sustainability director Jane Ashton.
Keynote speakers are Pura Aventura co-founder and chief executive discussing the role of tour operators and certification through B Corp and Paradores president Pedro Saura looking at how the hotel sector can achieve a greener future.
Spanish Tourist Office director Manuel Butler said: “The chosen topics for the day aim to confront genuine issues of sustainability across the sector, from decarbonisation to the social aspects of sustainability, sustainable transportation and waste management.
“Our speakers and panellists bring a wealth of different experiences to the event, so I am excited to see the productive discussions which will take place.”
