Strong demand for summer 2022 reported by Jet2holidays

More people have already booked summer holidays more than 12 months ahead against the same time in previous years.

A “materially bigger” proportion of overall sales are for Atol-protected package holidays than ever before, Jet2holidays booking data reveals.

The company has also seen an increase in bookings for packages from July, which continues through the rest of the school holidays and summer 2021.

The UK’s second largest operator delayed this year’s restart date by more than a month to June 24 in response to last week’s “disappointing” Global Travel Taskforce report.

Top destinations for summer 2022 include Turkey, Cyprus and Greece.

Customers are also booking luxury breaks after missing out on overseas holidays during the pandemic, according to the firm.

Jet2holidays has expanded its range for next year with the addition of Athens, Iceland, Sardinia, Sicily, Tivat in Montenegro and Toulouse to give more than 70 destinations across ten UK airports.

Chief executive Steve Heapy said: “There is a huge desire amongst UK holidaymakers to get away on their holidays and this is clear in the demand for both summer ‘21 and summer ‘22 holidays.

“Customers are continuing to look ahead with real confidence and as well as booking in their getaway for this summer, it is clear from the bookings data that they are also looking to secure that all-important holiday for summer ‘22.”
