Virgin Atlantic hires two senior account managers

Virgin Atlantic has recruited two senior account managers as part of a reshuffle of its leisure sales team.

Melanie Wood joins from Cruise1st and Sarah Finch from internet provider OGI, where she led strategic account management as business sales manager.

Virgin Atlantic said Wood would be able to use her skills gained in the cruise sector to drive revenue and support travel agents, while Finch would provide a “fresh perspective” having previously worked outside the travel industry.

As part of the reshuffle, existing leisure sales staff have been given specialist focuses, added the carrier.

Nick Johnson has been promoted to senior account manager at Virgin Atlantic from account manager and will now specialise in diversity, equality and inclusion.

Senior account manager Brad Smith is responsible for heading up tour operators and being a “company figurehead” for travel agents.

Virgin Atlantic said Smith would share details about its new Agent Reward Scheme later this week at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards.

Nicki Goldsmith, director of leisure sales at Virgin Atlantic, said: “We’ve always been committed to developing the best talent within the travel industry – and to do that, you need to provide new opportunities that add breadth and depth to our team’s skills and experience.”

She added: “This is why offering our current team opportunities to specialise is vital to our vision.

“It’s an exciting time for the entire team, we’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as we enter our next phase of ambitious growth and I look forward to working closely with each of them, as we continue to lead our business into a success.”
