Wizz Air deploys 200th aircraft in fleet to UK

The 200th aircraft to join the Wizz Air fleet is being based at Luton airport.

Deployment of the Airbus A321neo to the UK signals the budget airline’s continued confidence in the market.

The new aircraft made its debut on a route between Luton and Bacau in Romania.

The carrier will serve almost 60 routes from the airport this year including  new services to Salzburg and Cairo.

Wizz Air operates 16 aircraft in the UK covering 105 routes.

The latest Airbus takes the average age of Wizz Air’s UK fleet from 2.07 years to 1.97 years, making it the youngest in Europe, according to the carrier.

Wizz Air has more than 300 A321neos on order and employs almost 850 people in the UK.

UK managing director Marion Geoffroy said: “The UK remains a priority market for Wizz Air and we are excited to welcome a new aircraft to our UK fleet.

“We only invest in the latest and best technology and our new A321neo will ensure our fleet remains modern and comfortable, while helping to meet our environmental commitments.

“We are seeing increased demand for more flights to destinations across Europe, and the new aircraft will help us deliver even more holidaymakers from London to their favourite European destinations at the best possible price.”
