Wizz Air has reshuffled its senior leadership team after announcing president Robert Carey has departed “to pursue other interests”.
Carey was previously chief commercial and strategy officer at easyJet before moving to Wizz Air in 2021.
In the interim, József Váradi (pictured), chief executive, will assume commercial leadership responsibilities for the next three months.

From October 1, chief operations officer Michael Delehant will be promoted to senior chief commercial and operations officer.
He will be based in the Hungarian airline’s headquarters in Budapest, reporting to Váradi.
Delehant joined Wizz Air in 2021 and has more than two decades of executive airline experience.
Diarmuid O Conghaile, currently managing director of Wizz Air Malta, will be promoted to chief operating officer, based in Budapest and reporting to Delehant.
Before joining Wizz Air in his current role in 2022, he served was chief executive of the Irish aviation regulator, chief executive of Malta Air at Ryanair Group and in various managerial positions at Dublin Airport, the European Commission and the Irish government.
Mauro Peneda, currently head of operations control, will be promoted to managing director of Wizz Air Malta, based in Malta, reporting to O Conghaile.
Peneda joined Wizz Air in 2022 after nine years at the Latam Airlines Group.
Váradi said: “Today’s announcement marks significant and well-deserved career advancements for Michael, Diarmuid and Mauro.
