AmaWaterways has christened its newest ship, AmaSintra, on the Douro River.
The 102-passenger vessel was named by godmother Jenn Lee, president of Vacation Planners, at a ceremony in Porto on April 17 with AmaWaterways co-founders Rudi Screiner and Kristin Karst.
AmaSintra will operate the seven-night Enticing Douro itinerary which will stop in Porto, Régua, and Salamanca, with prices starting at £2,927 per person for a category E stateroom based on a December 12 departure.
Fares include flights, overseas transfers, dining, wine and beer during lunch and dinner, daily cocktails and excursions.
AmaSintra has 51 staterooms, most with an outside balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a sun deck pool, a fitness room and a restaurant offering regionally inspired cuisine and returning favourites.
AmaDouro and AmaVida are the other ships in the company’s Douro fleet and sail the Flavours of Portugal & Spain itinerary between Portugal and Vega Terrón.
Karst said: “We are thrilled to introduce another beautiful ship to the Douro River, providing our guests with even more opportunities to explore this enchanting region.
“Portugal continues to grow in popularity as a river cruising destination, and AmaSintra will offer an unforgettable experience to all who sail aboard.
“With departures running through late December, travellers looking to discover this remarkable part of the world will easily find a home on board AmaSintra.”
Lee added: “Being part of this milestone for AmaWaterways is such an honour.
“The attention to detail on AmaSintra speaks to the heart of what makes river cruising so special - intimate experiences, meaningful connections, and the opportunity to explore the world in comfort and style.”
