Stansted has gained a new connection to north Africa with the start of flights to Algeria.
Air Algérie is serving Algiers with four flights a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Algerian flag carrier is using a two-class Boeing 737 on the route to Houari Boumediene airport, with fares starting at £205.
Stansted managing director Gareth Powell said: "We’re delighted to welcome Air Algérie to London Stansted, marking an exciting milestone as we add both a new airline and a new country to our growing network.
“This new route provides more choice and value for passengers while strengthening ties between London and Algiers.”
Air Algérie Chiefs executive Hamza Benhamouda added: "We are excited to expand our presence in the UK with this new route to London Stansted.
"The addition of Stansted to our network offers passengers greater flexibility and accessibility, particularly for the Algerian community in the UK.
“We are proud to be the first airline to connect Stansted directly to Algeria and look forward to welcoming travellers on board and providing them with the quality service Air Algérie is known for."
