One&Only has delayed the opening of the first of two new luxury resorts in Greece.
One&Only Kea Island had been due to start accepting guests in July but will now not open until April 2024.
The Kerzner International brand’s Cyclades island resort is planned to cover a 65-hectare beachfront site with 75 villas and private homes to buy.
UK, Scandinavia and Netherlands regional sales and marketing director Craig Jeffs said: “To ensure that every aspect of the resort meets One&Only’s high standards, we have made the decision to postpone the opening to the first week of April 2024.
“We are never prepared to compromise on our guests’ experiences.
“This decision will enable us to complete the construction process of the resort to the desired, world-class standards we provide as a leader in ultra-luxury hospitality.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The development of One&Only private homes on Kea Island remains on track, in line with the resort works.
Jeffs added: “Prior to the opening of One&Only Kea Island, our One&Only brand journey in Greece will begin with One&Only Aesthesis opening on a sun-soaked stretch of Glyfada in Athens on 1 October 2023, and will be open year-round.”
