Star of the Seas to sail from Port Canaveral

Royal Caribbean International’s second giant Icon class ship is to sail from Port Canaveral from August 2025.

The port serving Orlando will be the base for Star of the Seas in its maiden season of seven-eighth Caribbean cruises.

Bookings opened yesterday (Wednesday) for the new ship which is capable of carrying more than 7,000 passengers.

It will follow Icon of the Seas, which is set to make its debut next month from Miami as the world’s largest cruise ship.

Sister ship Star of the Seas will run itineraries to Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis; Cozumel, Mexico; Philipsburg, St Maarten; Roatan, Honduras; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The cruises include a call at the company’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island in the Bahamas.

The line is to unveil “new experiences” at a later date to feature on Star of the Seas, which will match the eight ‘neighbourhoods’ provided on Icon of the Seas, including what is claimed to be the largest waterpark at sea.

Royal Caribbean took delivery of Icon of the Seas last month from the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
