Travel agent Charmione Lloyd has scooped £30,000 on ITV’s Beat the Chaser quiz show – with one second to spare.
The Cruise Room agent from the Wirral was victorious after taking on three of the ‘chasers’ in the show, which is a spin-off from The Chase.
Speaking to show host Bradley Walsh before the quiz started, she said that she plays a lot of pickleball – and would spend any winnings on a new bathroom.
In her cash-builder round, she got five out of five answers correct, answering questions about topics such as Emmerdale, Terry Pratchett and Jersey.
Then she had 60 seconds to beat the chasers to scoop a £30,000 jackpot in the head-to-head challenge, facing questions about subjects such as Finding Nemo, Prince’s 1999 hit and Battersea Dogs Home.
Walsh said the contest was “one of the most nail-biting” he had ever seen as he raised his hands to applaud her - and she had tears of joy.
Chaser Paul Sinha said she had the “single greatest one-second-left answer under pressure” when she gave the correct answer about the Doctor Who show.
