England rugby union star Danny Care officially opened the Travelbag store in Cobham, Surrey, last week.
The retired sportsman also played for Harlequins, whose home ground is Twickenham, about 13 miles north of Cobham.
The shop had a ‘soft launch’ in July and has taken enquiries from clients about holidays in Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the US.
Care cut the ceremonial ribbon (pictured) during the opening celebrations, which saw customers drop by for cake and fizz. They could also grab a goody bag and enter a competition for the chance to win a holiday for two people to Sri Lanka.
A spokesperson said: “The general feeling on opening day was overwhelmingly positive, and everyone who came into the shop was very complimentary.
“They said it looked great and how nice it was to see the high street growing – and that when booking a holiday they could actually speak to someone.”

Travelbag will also open an agency on Harpenden high street in Hertfordshire next month.
The agency will open its doors on Monday October 7, with its official opening on Thursday October 24.
Cobham is Travelbag’s seventh high street store, with Harpenden as the eighth. Their openings follow that of the Marlow branch in Buckingham, in February.
